Actions of PJR Polda Metro Personnel Extorting Viral Pickup Drivers, Dirlantas Polda Metro Apologizes, JAKARTA – The Ditlantas of Polda Metro Jaya was embarrassed by the behavior of three Highway Patrol (PJR) personnel who were suspected of carrying out illegal levies (extortion) on pickup drivers on the Halim Toll Road. In response to this, the Dirlantas of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Latif Usman also expressed an open apology.

“I apologize to the community, to people who experienced it directly and communicated directly with my members in the field. This is a disgraceful action by our members. And of course i once again apologize for this mistake,” said Kombes Pol Latif to journalists, Friday, (5/7).

Regarding the actions of the three members, namely Aipda A, Aiptu A and Brigadier A, which clearly violated the rules, Kombes Pol Latif emphasized that he would process the three.

“There are 3 of our members who are at that place. But there is one person who did this. But the friends didn’t remind each other, so we still took action against the three of them,” he stressed.

As is known, the tacky behavior of three PJR Polda Metro Jaya personnel who carried out extortion was discovered after a video of their action went viral on social media. In the video circulating today, a pickup truck is seen driving on the Halim Toll Road towards Tanjung Priok. Not long after, the pick up was stopped by PJR members.

It was said that the car was stopped because it was deemed to have violated road markings. PJR was also seen asking for a driver’s license from the pick-up driver. Several other drivers were also seen being stopped by PJR.

The pickup driver was also seen taking several notes worth Rp5.000 and giving them to the PJR personnel. Shortly afterward, the pickup driver received his driver’s license again and died at the scene. This incident occurred at KM 0+700 Halim Toll Road towards Semanggi, on Thursday (4/7). (Bembo)
