progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – As many as three travel companies, namely PT WDI, PT LLL, and PT DTI reported PT Wahana Mazmur Wisata (Wahana Travel) to Polda Metro Jaya regarding alleged fraud in ordering Umrah package flight tickets. The alleged crime with losses reaching Rp2,7 billion was revealed after PT WDI checked the airline in early March 2025. The check also found that 40 out of 50 booking codes received were invalid.
PT WDI’s attorney, Andi Dedi Wijaya, in his statement to the media crew said, this report has been received and registered with report numbers LP/B/2008/III/2025/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA and LP/B/2005/III/2025/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA. This case, he continued, also involved the General Manager (GM) of Wahana Travel as a potential suspect.
“The alleged case began with the booking of a client’s flight ticket for Umrah through Wahana Travel from October 2024 to February 2025 for departures in May-December 2025,” said Andi Dedi Wijaya, Saturday, (3/29).
In the period from September 2024 to February 2025, he continued, the purchase of Umrah package flight tickets through Wahana Travel was carried out by PT WDI, PT LLL and PT DTI with a total payment of Rp3,5 billion. After the payment was made in full, PT WDI, PT LLL and PT DTI also received a Passenger Name Record (PNR). However, when cross-checked with the airline, of the 50 PNRs received, only 10 were valid. Meanwhile, the other 40 PNRs failed to be verified.
Andi suspects that the reported Wahana Travel carried out this tricky manipulation with a systematic scheme. The reported Wahana Travel manipulated by issuing an invalid booking code and selling it to the reporters PT WDI, PT LLL, and PT DTI. As a result, the three travel companies lost up to Rp2,7 billion because the manipulated Umrah ticket orders failed to be verified.
“The consequences of the tricky actions of the reported Wahana Travel are very large. Several prospective Umrah pilgrims are threatened with failure to depart and this tarnishes the good name of the travel agent who was the victim,” said Andi.
Before being reported to Polda Metro Jaya, he continued, his party had already tried to mediate the alleged case on March 7, 2025. In the mediation meeting, the reported Wahana Travel admitted its mistake and promised to return all payment funds no later than March 10, 2025. However, until the promised deadline, it turned out that only Rp793,95 million had been returned. While the rest, which is much larger in nominal value, is still unclear.
“Because of that, we finally decided to make an official report to Polda Metro Jaya with Wahana Travel as the reported party. We also included a number of pieces of evidence such as transaction documents, PNR verification results from the airline, and evidence of communication with the reported party in the report,” Andi said again.
In the police report, he continued, Wahana Travel was suspected of several articles contained in the Criminal Code (KUHP) and the Consumer Protection Law.
In addition to Articles 378 and 372 of the Criminal Code concerning fraud and embezzlement, Wahana Travel was also suspected of Article 372 concerning embezzlement, Article 263 concerning document forgery, Articles 55 and 56 concerning involvement in criminal acts, and Articles 8, 9, 16, and 19 of the Consumer Protection Law.
