progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – In the last 3 months, the joint team of Subdit Jatanras and Subdit Resmob Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya has successfully uncovered 2 online gambling (judol) cases and 1 cockfighting gambling case in the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya. There are 124 suspects who were arrested in this action.
Dirreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Wira Satya Triputra in his official statement said, of the 124 suspects, 66 people were from the judol case. Then as many as 58 people from the cockfighting gambling case, where 20 of them were detained and 38 others were required to report.
“The 38 suspects of cockfighting gambling were not detained because they were charged with Article 30 with a sentence of less than 5 years in prison. But the legal process is still ongoing,” said Kombes Pol Pol Wira during a press conference at the Polda Metro Jaya Headquarters. Wednesday, (31/7) afternoon.
He also said, that for the cockfighting gambling suspects who were jailed, their roles as organizers who provided the arena, arranged the schedule and course of the match, and conditioned the chicken owners as a means for gambling.
“To enter the cockfighting arena, spectators are charged a fee of Rp50,000, the proceeds of which will be given to the cockfighting organizers,” said Kombes Pol Wira.
For the judol case that was uncovered, the suspects who were caged were also the same as in the cockfighting case. They acted as organizers or those who provided opportunities for the general public to gamble online.
“In order to gamble online, players must have an account and make a deposit by transferring it to an account, e-wallet or credit provided by the organizer on the online gambling website page. Well, this is where the role of the suspects who were detained comes in,” explained Kombes Pol Wira again.
The gambling games offered by the suspects were installed on many sites with types of slot games, live casinos, dominoes, baccarat, fish ponds, blackjack, poker, roulette, sports betting and others.
From the three cases that have been uncovered, investigators were able to obtain evidence in the form of hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash, laptops, PCs, cellphones, modems, savings books, ATM cards used for online gambling and cockfighting along with their equipment.
The Ditreskrimum of the Polda Metro Jaya then collaborated with the Ministry of Communication and Information and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) to block online gambling sites and trace the flow of funds from gambling.
Meanwhile, the suspects who organize online gambling are charged with Article 303 of the Criminal Code concerning gambling and/or Article 27 paragraph (2) of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions and/or Article 3, Article 4, Article 5 of Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning the Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering. The maximum sentence that can be obtained is 20 years in prison.
Meanwhile, the suspects who organize cockfighting are subject to Article 303 of the Criminal Code concerning Gambling with a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. (Bembo)
