progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – Polri Partner Journalists strongly condemn the vandalism of Tempo journalist, Hussein Abri Dongoran’s car by unknown people riding a motorcycle in the Kebayoran Baru District, Jakarta Selatan on Monday, (5/8) at around 21.50 WIB.
The exact location of the vandalism of Hussein’s car is on Jalan Pattimura, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. It is precisely behind the Polri Headquarters and in front of the PUPR Ministry office.
Due to this incident, Hussein accompanied by the Tempo Media Group’s legal team, has reported the vandalism of his car by unknown people to the Polres Metro Jakarta Selatan, on Tuesday, (6/8) yesterday.
“We strongly condemn repressive actions against journalists. The destruction of Tempo journalists’ cars is a form of terror from journalistic work. We ask the Polres Metro Jakarta Selatan Criminal Investigation Unit to work professionally to fully reveal the case that has been reported by Hussein’s colleague,” said the Head of the Polri’s Partner Journalists, Ikhwan Aziz, Wednesday, (7/8).
He also revealed, that if the police fail to reveal this case, the Polri’s Partner Journalists are worried that violence against journalists will quickly reoccur.
“Don’t let this case evaporate over time. Not long ago we remembered that two suspects in the case of the assault on a Kompas TV journalist during the SYL trial were released by the Polda Metro Jatanras. Even though they were suspects for the case of Article 352. Now the destruction of a journalist’s car has happened again. If the perpetrators are caught, we ask that they not be released again like the assault on the Kompas TV journalist, Mr. Police,” explained Ikhwan Azis again.
Meanwhile, Hussein Abri Dongoran in his statement explained, that the chronology of the car destruction incident occurred when he was on his way home after meeting a source at a mall in Jakarta Selatan. When he was about to turn the car towards the Antasari overpass, suddenly a loud noise was heard from the back of his car.
He felt the back of his car was hit by a motorcyclist who was riding pillion near his car.
“At that time, the conditions were quiet, there were no vehicles other than my car and the motorbike ridden by two people riding pillion towards Senayan,” explained Hussein. (Bembo)
