To ensure that the action is carried out in an orderly and peaceful manner, the Polri will deploy 1,347 joint personnel from Polda Metro Jaya, Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat, TNI, Satpol PP and the Transportation Service.
Kapolres Metro Jakarta Pusat, Kombes Pol Susatyo Purnomo Condro in his direction said, that all security personnel would be deployed to a number of points in the Jalan Merdeka Selatan area, especially in front of the US Embassy. The Polri has also prepared a traffic engineering scheme to regulate vehicle flow so that it is not obstructed in the area around the demonstration location.
“But traffic engineering is situational, depending on conditions on the ground. If the escalation increases, we will close Jalan Merdeka Selatan. We will divert traffic flow. That’s why we urge people who will pass in front of the US Embassy on Jalan Merdeka Selatan to look for an alternative route because it will there was an action to express opinions in front of the US Embassy,” said Kapolres Susatyo.
Furthermore, the Kapolres Susatyo also conveyed his appeal to the participants in the “Defend Palestine” Action to pay attention to the rights of other people. Demonstrations are requested to be carried out in an orderly manner in public spaces.
“We urge anyone who wants to express opinions in public, as regulated in the law, expressing opinions is the right of every citizen, of course they must also pay attention to the rights of other people. So please obey the rules in the law on expressing opinions in public. ” he said.
Meanwhile, for the personnel involved in security, the Kapolres Susatyo also emphasized that no one is allowed to carry firearms or bayonet. Everyone was ordered to always act persuasively, not be provoked, prioritize negotiations, and provide humanist services.
