Dirreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Wira Satya Triputra in his presentation during a press conference explained, that the perpetrators of this syndicate are categorized as professionals as bajaj thieves. They are already familiar with bajaj technical matters. All knowledge about bajaj technical matters is studied in depth and carefully at the service workshop. In fact, 2 of the 5 suspects who were caught also work as bajaj drivers.
“The suspects of this syndicate are very professional as bajaj thieves. They really understand how to find bajaj thieves quickly and silently. Starting from cutting cables, connecting to installing the starter button. It only takes 2 to 5 minutes for the engine to start,” said Kombes Pol Wira, Friday, (26/7).
“The suspect YR as the executor is even very good at stealing motorbikes thanks to his learning at the workshop. Moreover, he is also a bajaj driver. He must be good and used to the bajaj engine field,” he added.
Meanwhile, for the expertise of ‘mutilating’ bajaj, the suspects needed 2 hours, starting from cutting the bajaj frame to separating the engine.
“Based on their confession during the examination, the bajaj mutilation style was done by welding. Cut with welding. And it took 2 hours to finish with the condition already cut into pieces into scrap metal,” he explained again.
Previously reported, the Sub-Directorate of Jatanras Ditreskrimum of Polda Metro Jaya managed to thwart the actions of a bajaj thief syndicate who stole a blue bajaj belonging to a Kebon Jeruk resident, Jakarta Barat and mutilated it.
The actions of this bajaj thief syndicate went viral on social media thanks to CCTV camera uploads. In the video recording, the blue bajaj was seen parked in a field in the Kebon Jeruk area, Jakarta Barat, not far from the victim’s residence.
Not long after, the perpetrator approached the bajaj. He was seen fiddling with the bajaj quickly and less than a minute later the bajaj was taken away.
The Sub-Directorate of Jatanras Ditreskrimum of Polda Metro Jaya which handled this incident immediately conducted an investigation.
The two perpetrators who acted as executors and were recorded on CCTV, namely M and YR, were successfully arrested in Pluit, Jakarta Utara on Tuesday, (16/7).
Furthermore, investigators carried out developments and managed to arrest 5 more people who acted as receivers the following day. The 5 people who were arrested had the initials HS, PSA, AP, S, and ES. Later, PSA and AP were released because they were not proven guilty. Both of them later became witnesses in this case. (Bembo)
