For the Umpteenth Time, Polresta Soetta Airport Failed the Smuggling of Hundreds of Thousands of Clear Lobster Seeds Abroad

progresifjaya.id, TANGERANG – Polresta Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) Airport for the umpteenth time succeeded in thwarting the smuggling of 125.310
pearl and sand types of lobster clear seed tails (BBL) abroad. Two suspects, namely MZA (41) from Depok, and MIF (36) from Sukabumi were also arrested in this action.

Wakapolresta of Soetta Airport, AKBP Ronald Sipayung in his statement said, that the suspect MZA played a role delivered and handed over three suitcases containing BBL in the parking area of a restaurant in the Neglasari area, Tangerang City, to James on Babang’s orders. From each of these activities he made a profit of Rp500.000. Meanwhile, the suspect MIF played a role in helping the suspect MZA.

“This case was discovered last Thursday, (18/7). We learned about this activity from public information which said there were BBL shipments abroad via Soetta Airport,” said AKBP Ronald.

Based on this information, he continued, the Satreskrim Polresta Soetta Airport Operations Team then carried out monitoring at one of the restaurants in the Neglasari area. Then a silver Toyota Innova appeared and entered the restaurant area.

Because he was suspicious, the car was immediately approached and examined. Finally, three bags of goods were found, inside of which was a suitcase containing BBL. The two men in the car, namely MZA and MFI, could no longer escape. To the police, the two admitted that they were carrying a suitcase containing BBL which was released in Serang, Banten to be sent to Vietnam via Singapore.

AKBP Ronald said, that as a result of the actions of these two suspects, the state could potentially lose Rp5.708.250.000.

Meanwhile, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for the Polresta Soetta Airport, Kompol Reza Fahlevi also added, that this was the second time the suspect MZA had committed this act. He carried out his first action last June and escaped police supervision.

To be held accountable for their actions, the two suspects were charged under Article 92 in conjunction with Article 26 paragraph (1) of Republic of Indonesia Law no. 6 of 2023 concerning the Determination of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation into Law and/or Article 88 of Republic of Indonesia Law No. 31 of 2004 concerning Fisheries.

“And or also Article 87 in conjunction with Article 34 of Republic of Indonesia Law No. 21 of 2019 concerning Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine. The penalty is a maximum imprisonment of 8 years and a fine of Rp1.5 billion,” said Kompol Reza.

He also said, that in the period from 2023 to July 2024, the Soetta Airport Police had successfully thwarted six attempts by syndicates to send illegal BBL.

Of these six cases, 25 suspects were arrested and some have been prosecuted in court.

“The suspects used Soekarno-Hatta Airport as a transit area to send lobster seeds to be smuggled abroad,” he said again.

Separately, Kapolresta Soetta Airport, Kombes Pol Roberto Pasaribu conveyed a kamtibmas message from Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto that Polda Metro Jaya and staff continue to support law enforcement and related regulations, including Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Regulation Number 7 of 2024.

This Ministerial Regulation is a regulation to transform lobster governance in Indonesia. The police in this area play a role from the monitoring side to strengthening the national lobster cultivation ecosystem.

“State losses can be minimized and marine ecosystems can be maintained for reproduction
Lobster,” said Kapolresta Roberto in a written statement in Tangerang.

From customs, Martin as Head of Customs and Excise Intelligence at Soetta Airport appreciated the disclosure of the illegal BBL smuggling case which cost the country billions of rupiah.

Martin also emphasized that his party together with the Polri and stakeholders are always ready to work together in protecting Indonesia’s natural resources. (Bembo)
