This position is entrusted to Irjen Pol Iwan Kurniawan based on the Telegram Letter (ST) of the Kapolri Number ST/488/III/KEP./2025 on March 12, 2025. He replaces Irjen Pol Djoko Poerwanto who was transferred to become a High-Ranking Officer (Pati) of the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Polri with an assignment at the Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) of the Republic of Indonesia. Before becoming the Kapolda, Irjen Pol Iwan Kurniawan served as the Social and Economic Expert Staff (Sahlisosek) of the Kapolri.
This Aries man who was born in Tanjungkarang, Lampung, on April 2, 1970, is actually a mature officer who has been honed at the grade A+ Polda, Polda Metro Jaya. Since graduating from the Police Academy (Akpol) in 1994, his assignments have mostly been in the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya. A graduate of the Panaluan Single Battalion who has extensive experience in the field of investigation, he began his service as a Pama Polda Metro Jaya in 2002.
Then he served as Pasiaga Ops A and B Pusdalops Ro Ops Polda Metro Jaya, then as Kanit IV Sat I Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya, Kapolsek Cengkareng, Head of the Polres Metro of West Jakarta Narcotics Unit and as Head of the Polres Metro of South Jakarta Criminal Investigation Unit. After that he was transferred as Pamen Polda East Java in 2009 and had become Kapolres Mojokerto in 2011
and Kapolres Ponorogo in 2013.
In 2015, Irjen Pol Iwan Kurniawan returned to Polda Metro Jaya and served as Wadirreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya. The following year he served as the Kapolres Metro of South Jakarta and finally became the Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya in 2019.
After leaving the Polda Metro Jaya, Irene Dewayani’s husband was then promoted to a one-star position as a Level II Main Criminal Investigator at the Polri Criminal Investigation Unit and continued as the Head of the Polri Criminal Investigation Unit.
