Hit by Negative News About Brokers Extorting Money, Satpas Polres Karawang Says the News is Minus Without Confirmation

progresifjaya id, JAKARTA – The SIM Administration Service Unit (Satpas) of Polres Karawang is quite vulnerable to being hit by negative news related to brokers and extortion. Most recently, online media news from www.tribratatv.com broadcast negative news entitled “Alleged Extortion at Satpas SIM Polres Karawang Happens Again”. This negative news was broadcast on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

In the news, it was said that a woman with the initials H (36) admitted to being asked to pay Rp1.100.000 for the SIM C making process through a route offered by a Satpas Polres Karawang officer.

H came with her husband, R (38), to take care of making a SIM. However, when she was at the Satpas location, she admitted that an officer approached her who offered to make a SIM through a fast track without following the complete procedure, for a fee of Rp1.100.000. Immediately take a photo and the SIM C is ready. There was no written test and practical test process followed.

Responding to the news, a member of the Central PWI Honorary Council according to Hendry CH Bangun, Berman Nainggolan stated, that the news broadcasted by the online media www.tribratatv.com was vague and had no definite clarity. The angle of brokers and extortion written in the news, said Berman, was just a writing without any factual basis to prove it.

“Then the residents who were said to have been extorted Rp1.100.000 to make a Class C SIM were also only written with initials. The full name should have been used to prove that the person concerned was indeed extorted for Class C SIM. So it is easy to track and validate the news information,” Berman emphasized.

He suspected that the negative news was broadcast without any confirmation because it had a specific purpose or tendency. Not purely as a broadcast of bad news information that also made a confirmation statement according to journalistic rules.

“My guess is that the tendency of the news is only to get a certain amount of money as compensation for the news takedown. It’s just that because the goal has not been achieved, the news is still broadcast until now,” said Berman again.

In general, the Karawang Polres Satpas in its operations has fully used IT-based digital technology. Registration can be done by accessing the website www.daftarsimkarawang.com. Applicants can choose their own SIM test schedule and time according to their time availability.

Then when they come to the Satpas, the applicants have also been queued with FIFO (First In First Out) technology. With this technology, the queue of applicants holding micromatic queue numbers is guaranteed to run transparently according to the order of arrival and is also free from third parties or brokers.

Then there is also the application of Electronic Audio Visual Integrated System (E-AVIS) technology for written exams for applicants. With this technology, applicants can take the theory test online with gadgets at the SIM making location.

Next is the Electronic Driving Test System (E-Drives) technology. This technology is used for the applicant’s practical test stage. With this technology, the exam process will be subject to strict supervision with transparent point results without collusion.

Finally, the SIM practical exam at the Karawang Polres Satpas has also used digital RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), infrared, and sensor technology. This digital technology is a technology that uses radio waves to identify and track objects automatically. This technology consists of an RFID tag attached to the object, an RFID reader that reads data from the tag, and an antenna that helps communication between the tag and the reader.

By pairing E-Drives technology with RFID, it is certain that the supervision of the SIM practical exam will be stronger or stricter to give points for the applicant’s driving ability.

Open to the Media

Non-commissioned officer for SIM affairs (Baur) of the Karawang Polres Satpas, Aiptu Didin Sahudin told progresifjaya.id that, all the digital technology of the 4.0 era used can run smoothly because its operation is carried out by trained human resources (HR). All officers at the Karawang Polres Satpas have participated in training to provide excellent service to SIM applicants.

“The training attended by HR here has covered everything. Starting from knowledge, then the ability to operate technology to humanistic psychological training to serve applicants,” said Aiptu Didin.

Personally, continued Aiptu Didin, he still can’t understand the behavior of the media that is currently still broadcasting news about brokers and extortion at the Karawang Satpas. Moreover, the news is considered minus because it was broadcast without prior confirmation with the Satpas.

“I’m not saying that our way of working is perfect. Even if there are still shortcomings, they can be conveyed to us for evaluation. Not by carrying out terror with negative news that cannot be accounted for,” he said again.

Going deeper into this matter, Aiptu Didin then tried to liken it to an English phrase about imperfection and self-acceptance as a middle way.

The phrase in question says, “No one is perfect, that’s why pencils have erasers”. If in Indonesian the phrase reads, “No one is perfect, that’s why pencils have erasers”.

The meaning of the eraser in the phrase, said Aiptu Didin, is a way of communicating something that is imperfect so that it can be fixed to be almost perfect. Create a communication pattern or dialogue between the party that finds the shortcomings with the party that still makes the shortcomings so that objective improvements can occur. Not with a pattern of making slanted news without confirmation as done by several online media.

“We are open to anyone and friends with anyone. But we also hope that media colleagues can also behave properly. Professionally and not deviate from journalistic principles,” said Aiptu Didin as a reminder.

“And we also don’t want to fight with the media. We have even become friends and partners with the Polda Metro Jaya Journalist Working Group as proof and a form of our openness to the media. That’s our only message,” he continued, ending the statement with an affirmation. (Bembo)
