The countries that receive this implementation are the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Brunei, Singapore and Malaysia.
“With this policy, citizens who drive in ASEAN countries can still use an Indonesian driving license, without having to have an international driving license,” tweeted the TMC Polda Metro Jaya account information.
Dirregident Korlantas Polri, Brigjen Pol Yusri Yunus in this account post explained, that the implementation of the regulations is also in line with the discourse of implementing the KTP population identification number (NIK) as a SIM number which will also come into effect on June 1 2025.
“The NIK number also becomes a driver’s license number, which is a step forward in integrating driving legality documents with other state documents, such as NPWP, BPJS and KTP,” he said on the TMC website. (Bembo)
