progresifjaya.id, SAMARINDA – Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo accompanied President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to open the 30th National Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) in 2024. The event was held at Gelora Kadrie Oening, Samarinda City, East Kalimantan.
The 30th National MTQ carries the theme “Realizing a Society Loving the Qur’an for a Dignified Nation in the Archipelago”. The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) said that there were 1,998 participants consisting of 1.567 core participants and 431 reserves in the MTQ which will be held until September 16, 2024.
The 2024 MTQ is different from the previous year, because it uses an innovative digital approach through the e-MTQ registration application which can be easily accessed via smartphones used for participant registration and verification.
Also present at the opening of the 30th MTQ on Sunday (8/9) were First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo; Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Panglima TNI, Jenderal TNI Agus Subiyanto, Aster Panglima TNI, Mayjen TNI Novi Helmy Prasetya, Danpaspampres Mayjen TNI Achiruddin, Acting Governor of East Kalimantan Akmal Malik, Acting Presidential Military Secretary Brigjen TNI Heri Purwanto and a number of other officials.
President Jokowi himself arrived at the location at around 18:24 WIB. As soon as President Jokowi arrived, the roar of the audience was immediately heard. President Jokowi was present wearing traditional Takwo clothes, Kutai Kertanegara, East Kalimantan.
In his speech, President Jokowi mentioned the people who can distinguish between true news and fake news or hoaxes. He also mentioned that many people can become journalists and spread information today. The information that is spread does not even go through a verification and checking process like in journalism.
“Ladies and gentlemen of the MTQ participants that I respect. In today’s digital era, our society can very easily obtain information. Conventional media that is circulating is starting to be squeezed. The dominant ones are social media, online media, and everyone can become journalists, citizen journalism, without an editorial board,” said President Jokowi in his speech, in Samarinda, Sunday, (8/9).
“Therefore, every reader of social media news must be able to become an editor for themselves. Must be able to filter which news is good and which news is not good. Must check and recheck which is true and which is hoax or fake news,” he added.
In the midst of this condition, President Jokowi continued, it was said that society must also have a moral guide, namely religion. Therefore, President Jokowi also asked the MTQ event not only to display the beauty of reading the Qur’an, but also to be able to ground the teachings of the Qur’an. (Bembo)
