progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – Famous lawyer Otto Cornelis Kaligis has submitted his request to Finance Minister Sri Mulyani to provide legal protection for the ownership of his Rp35 billion savings that are stuck in Jiwasraya.
OC Kaligis hopes that Sri Mulyani can help return his savings in Jiwasraya that are stuck. Moreover, the case of his savings has also been strengthened by three court decisions that have binding legal force. The court decisions are each registered with the number 96PK/Pdt/2024, dated 22-2-2024, the decision of the DKI Jakarta High Court number 176/Pdt/2022-PT.DKI dated 26-4-2022 and the decision of the Jkt.Pst District Court number 219/Pdt.G/2020/PN.Jkt.Pst dated July 8, 2021.
“My savings in Jiwasraya amounting to Rp35 billion were made around 2016. And as proof of savings in my name and my two secretaries is a policy agreement which was finally strengthened through 3 court decisions that have binding legal force. So what other reasons do Jiwasraya and OJK not want to return my savings,” said OC Kaligis some time ago.
He explained, that in an effort to fight for his rights to the savings, on August 20, 2024, he and other Jiwasraya victims had met and discussed with Jiwasraya and OJK at the Jiwasraya office.
In that meeting, OJK was led by Rizal Ramadhani as Deputy Commissioner for Supervision of Financial Services Business Actors’ Behavior and Consumer Protection of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), I Wayan Wijana as Director of Special Supervision of Insurance, Guarantees and Pension Funds of OJK and Made Yoga Sudharma as Senior Supervisor/Division Head of OJK. Meanwhile, Jiwasraya was represented by Kompyang Wibisana as Vice President of Assets & Procurement of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya.
However, unfortunately, said OC Kaligis, the meeting ended with the conclusion that OJK and Jiwasraya both did not want to return the savings. Both OJK and Jiwasraya were also unwilling to comply with the court’s decision which had strengthened the status of OC Kaligis’ and the victims’ savings. They assume that the savings cannot be returned because they are hampered by the banking system and Jiwasraya’s restructuring.
“I’m not asking for state money. I’m only asking for my hard-earned money back during my work as a lawyer for approximately 50 years of practice,” complained OC Kaligis.
“That’s why we hope that the Minister of Finance, who was also sworn to obey the law, can pay attention to my request so that my savings, which according to the court’s decision now amount to approximately Rp35 billion, can be returned immediately,” he continued, expressing his hope. (Bembo)
