progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – The Legal Sector of Polda Metro Jaya held outreach activities on the fulfillment and strength of electronic evidence in cyber crimes on last Thursday, (11/7) at the Metro Jaya Meeting Hall (BPMJ). This activity was held in order to realize a Precision Police, an acronym for predictive, responsible and fair transparency.
Irwasda Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Nurkolis who was present to read a speech from the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto said, that the very rapid development of information technology had influenced all aspects of life, including the legal aspect.
“The progress of information technology is marked, among other things, by the widespread use of increasingly sophisticated electronic media. The use of electronic media which involves techniques for collecting, preparing, storing, processing, announcing, analyzing and/or disseminating information is something that is common for people to do in the current era,” explained Kombes Pol CoNurkolis.
He also said, that the development of the use of electronic communication tools has a number of advantages such as efficiency, speed and ease of carrying out activities. However, he also does not deny that there are concerns that electronic communication tools will be misused for personal gain and to the detriment of other people.
“To overcome the misuse of electronic media, a legal approach is very necessary to obtain legal certainty. A legal approach is also needed to handle cases related to electronic evidence. Such as, for example, defamation, pornography, murders recorded on CCTV, and business transaction fraud. or known to the general public as a cyber crime,” he explained again.
According to him, cyber crime is a crime that utilizes information technology. Cyber crime is also a further development of crimes committed with computer technology.
“Technically, these criminal acts can be divided into offline crimes, semi-online crimes and cyber crimes. Each has its own characteristics. However, the main difference between the three is their connection to public information networks,” he said.
He also said, that from a legal perspective, cyber crime is actually not a new crime. It’s just a development of the media used by the perpetrator. The concept of criminal acts has not developed, only the methods are slightly different.
Even so, he continued, in today’s increasingly complex digital era, cybercrime as a very relevant issue also requires fast and effective handling.
That’s why he hopes that through this legal counseling, Polda Metro Jaya personnel can better understand the application of the cyber crime article and the problems based on Law Number 1 of 2024.
“Polda Metro Jaya personnel, especially in the field of investigators, must be able to carry out their main duties and functions professionally and always take effective and measurable decisions and steps in accordance with statutory standards and norms and uphold human rights. That’s what we hope together,” said Kombes Pol Nurkolis again. (Bembo)
