One Perpetrator of Abuse in Asahan Not Yet Caught, IPW Asks Kisaran City Police to Make a DPO

progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – The case of abuse by two thugs named Budiman Krisman Sibarani and Pontas Sibarani against the victim Syahbuki Hasibuan in Asahan, North Sumatra, has received serious attention from Indonesia Police Watch (IPW).

In his statement to progresifjaya.id, IPW Chairman, Sugeng Teguh Santoso said, if the police – in this case the Polsek Kisaran City – who are handling the case already have sufficient evidence, then the two perpetrators must be arrested as soon as possible.

“If there are witnesses to the incident and there are also victims, it means that this case has sufficient evidence to be followed up and processed. It just depends on how it is handled,” said Sugeng, Monday, (30/6).

Furthermore, Sugeng also admitted that, he had received information that one of the two perpetrators of the abuse, namely Budiman Krisman Sibarani, had been arrested by the Polsek Kisaran City Criminal Investigation Unit. Meanwhile, the other perpetrator, Pontas Sibarani, has not been caught and is still roaming free.

Regarding this, Sugeng continued, IPW urged the Polsek Kisaran City to immediately arrest Pontas. If he is still not found because he is hiding, the Polsek Kisaran City can issue a Wanted List or DPO for Pontas Sibarani.

“The pursuit of the perpetrator must continue. If there are no signs of his whereabouts, issue a DPO for the perpetrator and coordinate with a number of agencies including Immigration to prevent Pontas from leaving the country. This effort must be carried out immediately,” Sugeng explained.

Regarding this case itself, Sugeng continued, IPW saw that the two perpetrators could be charged with multiple articles by investigators. The first article is 368 of the Criminal Code concerning extortion. Then the next article is 170 of the Criminal Code concerning assault that caused the victim to be seriously injured.

“Looking at the actions of the two perpetrators against the victim who eventually suffered permanent blindness on one side, there is no other word other than the law must be enforced and justice given to the victim,” Sugeng emphasized.

“So the Polsek Kisaran City must immediately issue a DPO for the perpetrator Pontas and continue to hunt him down. If necessary, involve the Polres Asahan Criminal Investigation Unit or Jatanras or Resmob the Polda North Sumatra to search for and arrest the perpetrator Pontas. The perpetrator must be arrested as soon as possible,” he added emphasizing. (Bembo)
