Online Taxi Driver Robbed and Dumped on Toll Road, Police Hunt for Perpetrators

progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – A robbery of an online taxi driver occurred on the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR), Jatiasih, Bekasi City on Saturday, (7/9) early morning. The victim with the initials BI was dumped on the side of the toll road while his car was taken by the perpetrator.

Kabid Humas of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Ade Ary Syam Indradi in his official explanation to reporters said, that the chronology of the incident began when the victim received an order from the perpetrator asking to be taken from Kramat Jati to East Bekasi.

However, in the middle of the trip, suddenly the perpetrator sitting behind the driver strangled the victim’s neck with a rope. The victim, who was shocked while driving the car, tried to release the rope.

“The victim tried to free himself by inserting his left hand into the rope that was tied around his neck. Then the victim decided to brake suddenly so that the rope that was snaring him came loose. Suddenly the perpetrator pointed a sharp weapon at the victim’s left waist,” explained Kombes Pol Ade Ary, Monday, (9/9).

In a condition of being threatened by a sharp weapon at the waist, he continued, the perpetrator then ordered the victim to get out of the car. Because he was afraid, the victim obeyed the perpetrator to get out of the car. That’s when the perpetrator immediately stepped on the gas, took the victim’s car and left the victim alone on the toll road.

“The victim finally walked to the side of the toll road to ask for help from a passing truck driver. Due to the incident, the victim suffered a loss of one four-wheeled vehicle,” said Kombes Pol Ade Ary.

The victim then made a police report. Based on the report, the police are now conducting a series of investigations, including hunting down the perpetrator.

“The perpetrator is still being investigated and hunted down. Hopefully he can be caught soon,” said Kombes Pol Ade Ary again. (Bembo)
