progresifjaya.id, LUMAJANG – Pangdam V/Brawijaya, Mayjen TNI Rudy Saladin visited Kodim 0821/Lumajang and Kodim 0824/Jember on Wednesday, (8/1). Pangdam Rudy’s visit was in order to strengthen resilience and increase food production in the two regions. In addition, this visit also became an actualization of the attitude of Pangdam Rudy and his staff in supporting the program of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia to increase national food production.
Accompanied by the Chairwoman of Persit KCK PD V/Brawijaya along with a number of Main officials of Kodam V/Brawijaya, during a discussion with the regional government, Pangdam Rudy then reiterated the commitment of the TNI, especially Kodam V/Brawijaya, to support the food security program in the regions.
“In addition, our commitment from the TNI is also to strengthen synergy with government agencies and the community. Food security is the responsibility of all elements of the nation. Therefore, the ranks of the TNI as one of the elements of the nation must also play an active role in the program,” said Pangdam Rudy.
In this interactive and friendly discussion, Pangdam Rudy also focused on discussing concrete steps to achieve the East Java rice production target in 2025 which increased by 2 million tons from the previous year’s production. This target is also in line with the statement of the Indonesian Minister of Agriculture during the Coordination Meeting for the Acceleration of Additional Planted Area (LTT) which took place the day before.
According to Pangdam Rudy, self-sufficiency and increased food production are obligations that must be achieved. Therefore, he hopes that the Forkopimda Lumajang and Jember can be more active in providing support because the two regions are potential food barns.
“The path of farming with the provision of seeds and fertilizers as well as adequate irrigation is the key to the success of the self-sufficiency and food improvement program. Therefore, i have great hope that all parties will always be synergistic and fully support the program to increase rice production. Because only with solid cooperation can the welfare of the Indonesian people through strong food security be realized,” said Pangdam Rudy during a discussion. (Bembo)
