Polda Metro and Cambodian Police Hold Comparative Study on Handling of Women and Children’s Cases

progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – In order to improve the ability to handle criminal acts against women and children, the Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya conducted a comparative study with the Cambodian National Police (CNP) in the meeting room of the Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya. Wednesday, (10/7) yesterday.

When delivering his speech, the Dirreskrimum of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Wira Satya Triputra said thanks to the initiative of the Minister of State for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Khofifah Indar Parawansa
At that time, together with Mrs. Derap Warapsari and several women’s organizations, the National Police finally formed a Special Service Room (RPK) to serve these victims. And Polda Metro Jaya became a pilot project for the formation of the Women and Children Service Unit (UPPA) from 2001.

“The aim of establishing the RPK is to provide special services and protection to women and children who are witnesses, victims and/or suspects in criminal cases of human trafficking. Apart from that, it is also to avoid human rights violations and actions that can cause more serious trauma and suffering for women and children,” explained Kombes Pol Wira.

On the same occasion, Karo SDM Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Langgeng Purnomo also delivered a welcome and mandate from the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto. He said, that Polda Metro Jaya was the Polda that handled the most cases of violence against women and children in Indonesia. In 2022 there will be 2.815 cases and in 2023 there will be 2.093 cases.

“We are committed to handling cases of violence against women and children comprehensively and with special handling with investigators who are certified child investigators. Inspections are also carried out in the Special Service Room (RPK) which has been prepared,” said Kombes Pol Langgeng.

He also added, that in this comprehensive service, Polda Metro Jaya also partners with local governments and other service institutions to fulfill victims’ rights such as legal process assistance, safe housing, psychosocial services and health services.

At the end of his speech, Kombes Pol Langgeng didn’t forget to express his deepest gratitude to all parties who had worked hard to realize this Study Visit For Cambodia National Police to Polri activity.

“Hopefully this activity will be useful for all of us, both the Polri and the Cambodian Police, to create services that are increasingly Predictive, Responsible and Fairly Transparency (PRESISI). Hopefully it will come true,” he stressed again.

Also present at this activity were the Head of Sub-Directorate Renakta, AKBP Evi Pagari, 5 Heads of Sub-Directorate Renakta Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya, Representatives of the Polri Divhubinter, Director General of Social Development of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs (Mowa) of Cambodia H.E Nhean Sochetra, Deputy for Child Protection at the Ministry of Social Affairs and DKI Jakarta Province Population Control and WCR Director.
