progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – Deputy Chairman of the KPK who is also a witness for the former Chairman of the KPK, suspect Firli Bahuri was reported to Polda Metro Jaya. He was reported by a reporter whose identity is being kept secret by the police due to meeting with the former Head of Yogyakarta Customs and Excise Eko Darmanto, who is now a suspect at the KPK. Alexander met Eko in March 2023. Meanwhile, Eko has been named a suspect since December 2023.
Quoting his statement about this, Alexander admitted that he met Eko at the office. However, the meeting was not one-on-one. There was Dumas staff who accompanied him and with the permission and knowledge of other KPK leaders.
According to him, the reason for the meeting at that time was because Eko wanted to report on alleged violations in the import of gold to steel.
“ED wants to report alleged abuse of authority in the import of gold, cellphones, and steel at that time,” said Alexander at that time.
The case that befell him now seems to remind him of his statement when he was a controversial witness that actually lightened Firli Bahuri’s case as a KPK suspect during the pretrial hearing in December 2023.
During the examination at that time, Alexander was asked about a photo of Firli’s meeting with SYL at the Tangki Sports Hall, Taman Sari, Jakarta Barat in March 2022.
Based on the KPK’s code of ethics, said Alexander at that time, KPK leaders are prohibited from holding meetings with corruption suspects. But according to him, there is a difference in meaning between a meeting and being met. A meeting, he said, has the intention of an agreement and something to be discussed. While the intention of being met like in the case of his current report is that there is no intention or agreement.
However, in his testimony at that time Alexander also did not elaborate on whether Firli Bahuri’s meeting with Syahrul Yasin Limpo at the Tangki Sports Hall was categorized as an scheduled meeting or not.
Meanwhile, the Dirreskrimsus of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Ade Safri Simanjuntak in his statement, Friday (27/9) yesterday said, the Corruption Crimes Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimsus of the Polda Metro Jaya has made a series of efforts to investigate the alleged criminal case against Alexander Marwata.
“We are verifying, making a review of the special criminal investigation, as well as collecting information and making an Information Report (LI),” he said.
Furthermore, continued Kombes Pol Ade Safri, based on the LI, an Investigation and Springas Order was issued on April 5, 2024.
“The letter has been renewed or extended on September 9, 2024,” he said again.
Eko Darmanto and 17 Witnesses Have Been Examined
According to Kombes Pol Ade Safri, the handling of the special criminal investigation case against Alexander Marwata has now also reached the examination of the former Head of Yogyakarta Customs and Excise Eko Darmanto. Eko’s examination was conducted on May 6, 2024.
The examination was conducted to investigate the alleged criminal acts reported by the public to the police.
In addition to Eko, investigators have also asked for information from 17 witnesses related to the complaint. The alleged criminal acts in the reported complaint are still being reviewed and sought.
“So far, 17 witnesses have been clarified or asked for information in handling the a quo case,” said Senior Commissioner Ade Safri.
In addition to being reported to the police, Alexander Marwata was also reported to the KPK Supervisory Board on Friday by the Legal Care Student Forum. The students expressed that Alexander, as Deputy Chairman of the KPK, should have understood very well that meeting with the parties involved in the case was not allowed.
“Alexander Marwata should have known and understood very well that meeting Eko Darmanto, who is strongly suspected of committing a criminal act of corruption because he has assets beyond his means, is not allowed,” said the Chairman of the Legal Care Student Forum, Raja Oloan.
“Alexander Marwata himself said in his statement that now people are not afraid of corruption. So don’t expect too much from the KPK. Then why are corruptors not afraid of committing corruption? Yes, because they can easily meet the KPK leadership to lobby,” he continued.
Therefore, he continued, the Law Concerned Student Forum urged the KPK Supervisory Board to immediately impose sanctions on Alexander’s removal. If this demand is not carried out, he guaranteed that the Law Concerned Student Forum will continue to demonstrate. (Bembo)
