progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – A number of journalists who are on duty to cover police activities, especially in Polda Metro Jaya, have given birth to an association organization named Jurnalis Mitra Polri or JMP. The birth of JMP was officially accepted by journalists based on a mutual agreement from a meeting held at the Polda Metro Jaya Journalist Hall on Friday, (2/8) night.
In the discussion meeting attended by dozens of journalists last night, it was also agreed to elect Harian Pelita journalist, Ikhwan Azis as Chairman of JMP. Then as Secretary General or Sekjen namely Arif Yunianto from journalreportase.com and Abus Tarbian from eksnews.id as treasurer. In the advisory ranks there are Saputra Ginting from kabarpersada.com, Rio Bembo Setiawan from progresifjaya.id and Bolas Lumbanraja from inifakta.com.
“We will make the management form simple first as a requirement to fulfill the formation of the association. Later, we will slowly revise it to be more complete and better as the JMP professional activities progress,” said JMP Chairman, Ikhwan Azis, Saturday, (3/8).
He also explained, that the birth of JMP can be called a form of feeling of a number of journalists at Polda Metro Jaya to realize an attitude of mutual respect and support among fellow journalists who work at Polda Metro Jaya. Also to eliminate the impression of discrimination against journalists based on the flag of the media they carry.
“Journalism is a profession to work. And that demand must be answered by journalists as practitioners of that profession. The media is only a pool or container for working. So never make the media a benchmark for judging journalists. The work that is made is the benchmark, not the name of the media where he works,” he explained again.
JMP Advisor Rio Bembo Setiawan also added. He said, that after the birth process of JMP was agreed upon together, it would immediately continue to the process of making JMP a legal entity.
“We want to immediately make JMP a legal entity so that it has a strong and clear foundation in all its activities. Not like a coffee shop association. This can also be a reflection of our respect and appreciation in JMP for the journalism profession,” he said.
“Our rationale for doing this is also clear and regulated in Staatsblad 1870 Number 64 concerning Legal Entity Associations (Staatsblad 1870-64) and Book III Chapter IX of the Civil Code (KUH Perdata),” he added.
He hopes that the birth of JMP will make journalists who work at Polda Metro Jaya and its ranks more united and more respectful of each other. Support from the police, especially from the Bidang Humas of Polda Metro Jaya, is also highly anticipated to make JMP grow and develop well and professionally.
“The main key is the full support from the Bidang Humas of Polda Metro Jaya as a professional partner of journalists to make JMP grow and develop well. After that, there is full support from the leadership of Polda Metro Jaya and other work unit or Satker. Pray that we can grow and develop and continue to work,” said the man who is familiarly called Bembo and once worked as a Media Officer and Fan Relations Officer for the League 1 football club, Dewa United FC, emphasized.
