progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – The Polres Tanjung Priok Port Criminal Investigation Unit has arrested three suspects who dismantled a number of components in the Tower Base Transceiver Station (BTS) on Jalan Raya Pelabuhan Nusantara, Tanjung Priok Port area, Jakarta Utara.
As a result of the three of them, the cellular signal in the Tanjung Priok area experienced disruption.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Polres Tanjung Priok Port, AKP I.G.N.P. Krisnha Narayana said in his statement, that the three suspects in the BTS component theft had the initials MW, RS, and S.
The three of them are employees who are tasked with maintaining BTS towers in several areas in Jakarta, including Tanjung Priok.
It started then, Thursday, (12/9), the BTS tower was being rejuvenated. However, while the rejuvenation was being carried out, a number of important components were stolen by the three perpetrators.
The provider also reported the theft to the Polres Tanjung Priok Port.
After an investigation, the three perpetrators of the theft were finally secured by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Polres Tanjung Priok Port in the vicinity of Tanjung Priok, Pademangan and Karawang.
“So we also need to convey here where we managed to secure these perpetrators. All three of them,” said AKP Ngurah who was accompanied by Head of Unit II of the Polres Tanjung Priok Port Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu Gregorius Michael, Monday, (23/9) yesterday.
He also said, that the components stolen by the three perpetrators were 1 unit of 12 core joint closure box and 1 unit of mini rectifier cabinet. These items were transported by the perpetrators using a white Granmax Blindvan.
The two stolen components are parts that function to protect the fiber optic cable network from dust and water so that they are not easily damaged.
To be held accountable for their actions, the three perpetrators were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning aggravated theft.
The maximum penalty is 7 years in prison. (Bembo)
