progresifjaya.id, TANGERANG – The Opsnal Team of the Polresta Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) Airport has succeeded in thwarting the sending of 14 non-procedural prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) who were going to work in Cambodia. Two men who tried to send the CPMI were also arrested.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Polresta Soetta Airport, Kompok Reza Fahlevi explained in his statement, that the 14 CPMI and the two men who sent them were caught in the Polresta Soetta Airport Non-Procedural CPMI Departure Prevention Operation.
“We were able to secure 14 non-procedural CPMIs in different time periods and locations,” said Kompol Reza in his written statement, Sunday, (15/9).
He explained, that on Wednesday (11/9) there were eight non-procedural CPMIs who were successfully secured at Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten. Then on Friday, (13/9), one non-procedural CPMI, and two men with the initials MZ and PJ who sent off the victims at Terminal 2 of Soetta Airport were successfully secured.
Furthermore, on Saturday, (14/9), his party was again able to secure two non-procedural CPMIs at Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
And on Saturday, (14/9) night, three non-procedural CPMIs were again secured at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
He said, that this case could be revealed thanks to information from the public regarding the alleged departure of non-procedural CPMIs via the Soetta Airport.
“When they were secured by officers, they admitted that they were going to work in Cambodia. However, when checked, they could not show the complete documents to work abroad,” said Kompol Reza.
According to him, from the results of the examination, the non-procedural CPMI admitted that they were offered work in Cambodia as company employees, restaurant waiters.
Then, there were also those who received job offers as service operators (customer service), to becoming admins of online games that have gambling criminal content.
“On average, they received offers to work abroad non-procedurally from the Telegram social media application by someone who is under investigation,” explained Kompol Reza while adding that his party already had the identity of the person.
He also said, that in this case his party had named two people as suspects. They are MZ and PJ who played a role in sending the victims via Soetta Airport.
The two suspects were charged with Article 83 in conjunction with Article 68 and/or Article 81 in conjunction with Article 69 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers.
“And they are also charged with Article 4 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Human Trafficking (TPPO). The threat of punishment is 10 years in prison and a fine of Rp15 billion,” said Kompol Reza again.
Meanwhile, the evidence secured in this case is the passport and boarding pass of the Jakarta (CGK) – Kuala Lumpur Malaysia (KUL) – Phnom Penh, Cambodia (PNH) flight route belonging to the non-procedural CPMI.
Meanwhile, the non-procedural CPMI who were secured have the status of witnesses and have now been returned to their respective hometowns.
Separately, the Kapolresta Soetta Airport, Kombes Pol Roberto Pasaribu in his statement conveyed the appeal for public order from the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto.
He said, that the Kapolda Metro Jaya reminded the entire community not to be easily tempted by the lure of large salaries working abroad. This is one of the efforts to avoid being a victim of TPPO.
“If the public sees or experiences TPPO, they are expected to immediately report it to the nearest police station for immediate follow-up according to applicable procedures,” said Kapolresta Roberto as a reminder. (Bembo)
