progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – The second wave of the “Defend Palestine” demonstration took place on Sunday (9/6) at the Patung Kuda, Gambir, Jakarta Pusat. To secure this demonstration, the Polri deployed 1.597 joint personnel from Polda Metro Jaya, Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat, TNI, Satpol PP and Dishub.
Kapolres Metro Jakarta Pusat, Kombes Pol Susatyo Purnomo Condro in his statement explained, that apart from securing the demonstration, his party was also preparing a traffic engineering scheme.
However, this scheme is situational depending on the escalation conditions in the field.
“If the escalation increases, we will close Jalan Merdeka Barat and traffic flow will be diverted. Therefore, we urge people who will be crossing Jalan Merdeka Barat to look for alternative routes because there will be an action to express opinions at the Patung Kuda.” said Kapolres Susatyo.
Furthermore, the Kapolres Susatyo also appealed to the participants in the “Defend Palestine” action to pay attention to the rights of other people and demonstrate in an orderly manner.
“We urge anyone who wants to express an opinion in public, as regulated in the law, expressing an opinion is the right of every citizen. But of course they must also pay attention to the rights of other people,” he said.
Furthermore, for all personnel involved in security, the Kapolres Susatyo also asked them to always act persuasively, not be provoked, prioritize negotiations, and provide humane services. Security personnel are also prohibited from carrying firearms while on duty.
“Serve our brothers who will convey their opinions sincerely, sincerely and humanistically. We also pray together that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will end soon and world peace will soon be created,” he said again. (Bembo)
