progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – The increasingly severe and chaotic traffic jam in Jakarta has become a special concern for the Kapolda of Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto. In order to overcome this, Kapolda Karyoto took the initiative to form a ‘Traffic Jam Solving Team’.
In his presentation, Kapolda Karyoto said, that the complicated traffic jam problem in Jakarta is undeniably very draining on emotions. The sound of horns answering each other also makes your head feel dizzy. It’s really boring and annoying.
“Our emotions are very drained because we are stuck in traffic jams in Jakarta every day. Even when i drive, i often encounter impatient people honking their horns. It’s really boring,” said Kapolda Karyoto after leading the Jaya 2025 Operation Safety Troops Roll Call at the Polda Metro Jaya Precision Field, last Monday, (10/2).
“It doesn’t matter whether it’s a weekday or a weekend. Saturday and Sunday, which are actually holidays or free days, are also congested. Maybe this has been happening for the past 10 or 20 years,” he added.
The various activities of people in Jakarta during the weekend, continued Kapolda Karyoto, have clearly invited crowds that have the potential to cause congestion. One example is the congestion point in the Senayan area during the weekend due to the many events being held.
“When GBK is attended by 100 thousand people with big events. Opened at 19.00, at 15.00 it already starts to get congested. Finished at 21.00 or 22.00 and only cleared at 01.00 or 02.00 in the morning. This indicates that the roads around the center of Jakarta’s bustling center are just those. You can imagine,” explained Kapolda Karyoto.
Reflecting on this problem, he then took the initiative to gather three work units (satker), namely the Traffic Directorate, the Samapta Directorate, and the Satbrimob Polda Metro Jaya. The three were gathered to form a ‘Traffic Breaker Team’ and move mobile to find the point of congestion.
These three satkers were gathered by Kapolda Karyoto at Monas Field, Central Jakarta, last Tuesday, (11/2) morning. Thousands of trail bikes were also put on standby as a means to break the congestion.
“Hopefully the collaboration of these three work units can be the best solution to solve the traffic jam problem in Jakarta. The experts in managing it are traffic officers. But i added Sabhara and Brimob officers to patrol to find congestion points to then solve and unravel them,” explained Kapolda Karyoto.
He also said, that in its operations, the ‘Traffic Breakdown Team’ will immediately move as soon as they receive information about congestion. They will make efforts to regulate traffic and if necessary, take discretionary action in the field.
“Empirically and theoretically, when there is congestion, normally a traffic light will be made abnormal in additional arrangements that we call discretion. We prioritize the longest queue. Maybe there 2 times, here 1 time,” he explained again.
Therefore, he openly apologized early on if the traffic engineering that was carried out later would disrupt public comfort. The initiative to present the ‘Traffic Jam Solving Team’ is highly expected to be the best solution for Jakarta to be free from traffic jams. Aamiin YRA. (Bembo)
