Struck by SYL’s Testimony of Giving Rp1,3 Billion, the Kapolda Metro Believes that Firli Bahuri’s Position is Increasingly Squeezed

progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto believes that former KPK chairman Firli Bahuri is now in an increasingly tight position. Testimony of former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) at the trial The Jakarta Corruption Court said that it had given large amounts of money twice with a total value of Rp1,3 billion in foreign currency funds to Firli, surprising many people. It is certain that this testimony also hit Firli very sharply.

In his official response, Kapolda Karyoto said, that he admitted that this testimony was indeed an interesting fact in the trial.

“The facts in yesterday’s trial are interesting. And we are still in the process of fulfilling the prosecutor’s instructions for the Firli case file,” said Kapolda Karyoto to reporters, Wednesday, (26/6).

According to him, the facts of the trial will later be cross-checked further with the results of the investigation report (BAP) at Polda Metro Jaya. Whether this can later be used as material for coordination with research prosecutors still needs to be processed and studied first.

“Yes, in my opinion, it is very significant. Yesterday, i coordinated. At my level, i coordinated with Kajati. These are better discussion materials to be used as comprehensive material,” explained Kapolda Karyoto.

Until now, he continued, joint investigators are still working to complete the case files for the alleged extortion case. If it has been declared complete, Polda Metro Jaya will immediately carry out phase II transfer of both suspects and evidence.

“Hopefully in a short time. I also don’t want it to take too long, actually. Hopefully later the investigators will be able to fit in, they will be able to do their best. And the prosecutor also considers the case file to be complete. Yes, it will immediately hand over to stage II. We don’t want that either. I’ve been holding onto this case file for a long time,” said Kapolda Karyoto again emphasizing.

Separately, Dirreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Ade Safri Simanjuntak in his official statement explained, that SYL’s testimony regarding the flow of Rp1,3 billion in funds at the trial had also been presented during the examination.

“Yes, that’s right, Rp1,3 billion. In essence, the investigation material carried out by KPK investigators in which SYL is currently the defendant intersects the facts of the incident with the alleged criminal act of corruption that we are currently carrying out in which SYL is a witness in the a quo case,” said Kombes Pol Ade Safri.

SYL’s testimony in the trial, he continued, was also included in the investigation report (BAP) of the extortion case with the suspect Firli. This testimony was also conveyed by witnesses in the police BAP

“What was conveyed by the defendant SYL as well as other defendants and other witnesses has all been included in our BAP. Because the case handled by the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) investigators, with the investigation carried out by Polda Metro Jaya investigators, contains elements of a criminal incident that occurred. Yes, as it emerged yesterday in the testimony of defendant SYL. This is already in the BAP against defendant SYL,” he explained again.

As is known, currently Firli Bahuri is a suspect in alleged blackmail against SYL. He was charged with alleged criminal acts to eradicate corruption in the form of extortion or gratification or bribery related to the handling of legal issues at the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture in the 2020-2023 period.

Polda Metro Jaya has not yet arrested Firli. But that still doesn’t affect the legal process that Firli will undergo. Even though he is not currently in custody, the ending of this case has confirmed Firli’s status as a member of a community correctional institution. Just wait for the play date. (Bembo)
