progresifjaya.id, JAKARTA – Dewa United FC has climbed to second position in the temporary League 1 standings for the 2024/2025 season, replacing Persebaya and Persija in third and fourth positions. This certainty was obtained after Dewa United FC defeated Persija 2-1 in the match that took place on Saturday, (8/2) yesterday.
Thanks to this victory, the club nicknamed “Tangsel Warrior” collected 40 points from 11 wins, 7 draws and 4 losses. Meanwhile, Persija, who was defeated, is stuck with 39 points in third place, followed by Persebaya with 38 points in fourth position.
This achievement is certainly worth noting. Especially considering the history of Dewa United FC breaking through League 1 two years ago with the status of 3rd place in League 2, below Persis and RANS Nusantara as champions and runners-up. As time goes by, now RANS has been thrown back into League 2 and Persis is in 16th place in the temporary League 1 standings.
In the top four of the current standings, Dewa United, which is the youngest club, is competing closely with three legendary clubs from the association. Persib is a legendary association club from Bandung which was founded in 1919. Then Persebaya is a legendary club from Surabaya which was born in 1927. While Persija is a legendary club from Jakarta which was born in 1928.
While Dewa United FC is the reincarnation of the League 2 club Martapura FC which changed its name to Dewa United FC in February 2021.
Dewa United FC’s track record of being able to compete directly at the top of League 1 cannot be separated from the active role of Tommy Hermawan Lo as the club owner.
Since being bought by Tommy Hermawan Lo, Dewa United FC has immediately shown drastic improvements with promotion to League 1 2022. In its first season, Dewa United FC had not shown its fangs and finished in 17th place in the final standings. Luckily at that time League 2 was not running so Dewa United FC was saved from relegation.
In its second season, Dewa United FC slowly began to show its fangs and managed to finish in fifth place in the final standings.
And now in the third season, until the 22nd week Dewa United FC has been able to perch in second place in the standings below Persib.
In terms of coaching, Tommy Hermawan Lo’s Dewa United also has an academy called Dewa United FC Development. This academy focuses on developing football, basketball and e-sports talents, three sports that Dewa United is engaged in and diligently pursued as a club.
Apart from being the owner of Dewa United, Tommy Hermawan Lo is also known to be actively involved in the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI). He became the General Treasurer of KOI for the 2023-2027 period. He also held the same position during the previous KOI management.
In addition, Tommy Hermawan Lo also plays an active role in the board of the International Esports Federation (IESF). His presence in this federation has paved the way for Indonesian esports teams to play and compete openly at the international level. Bravo, bro. (Bembo)
